On May 25, 2025, the Vienna Sporthotel in Erdberg once again became the center of the Austrian Pickleball community: At the 3rd PFA Vienna Pickleball Open, players competed in five categories – delivering thrilling matches and sending a strong signal for the growing Pickleball scene in Austria. Thanks to the support of Eversports, the top three players in each category received vouchers.

Young talent makes a strong impression
A highlight of the event was the performance of young talents Resi Grubmüller and Manuel Huber, who celebrated a much-cheered match win in the Beginner Doubles category. The two rising stars secured their first-ever Pickleball medals by finishing in 3rd place – a promising preview of future tournaments.

Strong performances in the Women’s Doubles
In a thrilling three-set final, Hana Drdlickova and Denise Hübsch claimed victory over Ashley Simpson and Jasmin Primus. Tilda Andrews and Mareen Tan finished in third place.

Mixed Doubles: Another win for Drdlickova
Hana Drdlickova proved unstoppable in the Mixed Doubles as well. Together with Stefan Grubmüller, she took home the title. Ashley Simpson and Stefan Urban placed second, followed by Jasmin Primus and Peter Robic in third place.

Undefeated throughout the entire tournament day, Stefan Grubmüller delivered an impressive performance at the 3rd PFA Vienna Pickleball Open. In the Men’s Doubles, he and Michael Wurdits secured the title. Abbas Nabizada / Stefan Urban took second place, while Martin Kova / Philipp Walland came in third. Grubmüller was also unstoppable in the Men’s Singles, winning the title ahead of Peter Robic and Stefan Urban.

With a compact schedule, great atmosphere, and excellent organization by the Pickleball Federation Austria, the tournament was a full success. The mix of seasoned players and up-and-coming talents clearly showed how dynamically the sport of pickleball is evolving in Austria. We’re already looking forward to the next edition!
