4th Austrian Pickleball Championships: Record Tournament with Title Contests, Top Names and a Major Supporting Program for Visitors and Players

From April 17 to 19, 2026, the 4th Austrian Pickleball Championships presented by Sport Pflug will take place at the Racket Revolution venue in Wiener Neustadt. With 140 entries across 10 events, this is the largest pickleball tournament ever held in Austria. In addition to the Austrian championship titles, the three-day event is also about increasing visibility for a sport that continues to grow strongly in Austria.

The tournament features men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. In addition, Austrian senior champions in the 50+ age category will also be determined in all of these events. The draw has already taken place and can be viewed in the RAQT app. Especially attractive for spectators: admission is free on all days. Guests and media representatives are warmly welcome.

Can Knapp Defend His Titles?

At the center of sporting attention this year is above all Thomas Knapp. The man everyone is chasing arrives in Wiener Neustadt as the three-time champion of 2025. Last year, he won the men’s singles, the men’s doubles together with Stefan Urban, and the mixed doubles alongside Ashley Simpson. This year, Knapp will compete in mixed doubles with Katharina Alten, the 2025 singles champion, while in men’s doubles he will attempt to defend the title with Stefan Urban.

Another prominent name in the field is Stefan Grubmüller, the 2024 men’s singles champion. He will also compete in singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles and is among the medal contenders.

Christine Seehofer-Krenn to Compete

There will also be plenty of excitement in the women’s doubles. Last year’s winners Jasmin Primus and Denise Hübsch are not competing this time. The top seeds are last year’s runners-up Emily Humes and Corinna Eder.

Also competing this time is a player who is new to pickleball but has been a major name in racket sports for years: Christine Seehofer-Krenn. The Lower Austrian will play her first pickleball tournament in Wiener Neustadt. With Katharina Alten, she has a top partner by her side right away. Seehofer-Krenn is a true luminary of Austrian racket sports. For years, she dominated the international racket multisport discipline of Racketlon. In addition, she was also among Austria’s best padel players. Now she is making her first appearance in pickleball.

Supporting Program and TV Broadcast

PFA President Peter Robic emphasizes the special significance of the tournament:
“I am delighted that we are able to stage the Austrian Championships for the first time at Austria’s premier venue. We are proud to offer our players from all over the country optimal conditions here at Racket Revolution.”

In addition to the sporting action, there will also be an attractive supporting program. On Saturday evening, there will be a players’ party featuring blacklight pickleball. Guests are welcome (Link: Buy ticket).

Another highlight follows on Sunday from 1 p.m.: the final matches will be broadcast live on TV and online on Streamster. Sports reporter Martin Grasl from Krone TV will provide commentary. This gives the tournament an additional stage and brings Austria’s best pickleball players closer to an even wider audience.

New Partnerships for the Pickleball Federation Austria

As part of the 4th Austrian Pickleball Championships presented by Sport Pflug, the Pickleball Federation Austria is also introducing three new partners for 2026. Together, they aim to provide new momentum for the development of pickleball in Austria.

With Sport Pflug, the PFA has gained a new event partner that is now adding pickleball to its portfolio. In the future, two roll-out courts from Jaykay can be rented for sports festivals, events or holiday programs – including nets, paddles and balls. Sport Pflug takes care of the logistics and, if desired, on-site activation as well.

In addition, Jaykay has been secured as a new court partner. The manufacturer of the European Championship courts will provide the PFA with two premium courts for promotions and tournaments, creating additional opportunities to bring pickleball to new locations in a flexible and professional way.

The cooperation with Italian sportswear manufacturer Macron is also being expanded. In addition to the trusted retailer Sportelf, Macron’s Austrian representative is now also an official contractual partner of the PFA. This creates an expanded range of services for the federation and its partner clubs.

The 4th Austrian Pickleball Championships therefore stand not only for high-class sport and exciting title decisions, but also for the next stage in the development of a sport that is inspiring more and more people in Austria.
