The Pickleball Federation Austria is working intensively to expand pickleball in Austria. More trained personnel are needed to help teach and promote the sport. In 2025, the specialized Pickleball instructor module was developed. Sixteen people took part in the first course. The first date for the 2026 specialized instructor module has now been confirmed: from June 12 to 14, up to 20 additional participants will be trained at the Europahalle in Vienna’s 23rd district. Course Director Stefan Grubmüller will provide participants with concentrated theoretical and practical knowledge over 25 units.

New: The PFA will now also offer courses for people who want to teach pickleball voluntarily in their own environment. The language of instruction in all courses is German. Together with Stefan Grubmüller, the PFA is also working on advanced training programs that build on the specialized instructor module.

Pickleball Instructor (Übungsleiter)

• Requirements: Completion of the basic instructor module within the last 5 years; several hours of pickleball playing experience or prior experience in other racket sports; recommended: participation in pickleball tournaments.
• Who it is for: People who want to learn all pickleball fundamentals and conduct both individual and group training sessions.

• Cost: €315 per person – €50 reimbursement through a PFA member club possible (max. 20 people)

Pickleball Assistant

• Requirements: none
• Who it is for: People who want to teach pickleball voluntarily in their club or at their facility.
• Scope: 2 hours. Game formats are taught in a compact format and the basics of community management are discussed.
• Next date: Sunday, April 26, 2026, 9:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m., Europahalle (An den Steinfeldern 2A, 1230 Vienna)
• Cost: €50 per person (max. 10 people)

Pickleball Buddy

• Requirements: none
• Who it is for: People who mainly want to teach pickleball as part of the “She Plays Pickleball” project.
• Scope: 2 hours. The basics of the game on regular courts are taught in a compact format, and game formats for the “Kitchen Courts” are introduced.
• Next date: Tuesday, May 5, 2026, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., Vienna Sporthotel (Baumgasse 83, 1030 Vienna)
• Cost: €20 per person (max. 10 people)
