The first half of 2026 will be truly exciting for pickleball in Austria: three major tournaments are on the schedule – and with them, three great opportunities to bring our community together again, inspire new players to join the sport, and take the next step forward together.
Whether you’ve been part of the scene for a long time or are just discovering pickleball: these events are perfect to get a taste of tournament play, challenge yourself against others, or simply enjoy the atmosphere on site.
One important note up front: Registration will open on RAQT soon. We’ll announce the start in good time on our channels.
3rd Rackathletes Pickleball Cup – Vienna (March 7–8, 2026)
Vienna kicks things off: at the 3rd Rackathletes Pickleball Cup, players will come together for the first major tournament weekend of the year. Participants from all countries are welcome! Matches will be played at the Ballsportgymnasium Wien in Erdberg, where the main gym hall will once again be transformed into a pickleball arena. This time, the tournament will run over two full days, and singles events are also on the program.
The tournament is co-hosted with its name-giving partner, Sportunion Rackathletes Austria, combining competitive ambition with the signature pickleball community spirit: new faces, familiar names, exciting matches, and plenty of exchange off the court. With multiple skill levels, there will be suitable divisions for everyone.
4th Austrian Pickleball Championships – Wiener Neustadt (April 17–19, 2026)
In April it gets official: the 4th Austrian Pickleball Championships are the national highlight of the spring season. At Racket Revolution in Wiener Neustadt, it’s all about Austrian championship titles, medals, and prestige – and at the same time about what pickleball stands for: fairness, energy, and a great sense of community. Only Austrian citizens and foreigners who have lived in Austria for more than one year can participate.
Events are planned for the Open Division, and for the second time also Senior divisions. As usual at the Austrian Championships, there will be one division per event — everyone is invited to take part, and positions throughout the field will be played out.
A special highlight for 2026: the championship finals will be broadcast via livestream, and additionally produced/broadcast for TV, including professional commentary. The title matches will get the stage they deserve.
1st Pickleball Austrian Open – Oberpullendorf (June 26–28, 2026)
At the end of June, we take an international step forward: the 1st Pickleball Austrian Open at Sporthotel Kurz in Oberpullendorf will be the first international tournament hosted by the Pickleball Federation Austria (PFA) – a true milestone for pickleball in Austria. It will also be the first prize-money tournament we host, making it attractive to international players from the very start. Any citizen can participate in this event.
Dedicated hall + permanent center court
The tournament takes place in the context of the Austrian Tennis Championships. A major update compared to last year (the 3rd Austrian Pickleball Championships): pickleball will be played this time in a dedicated hall. The centerpiece will be a permanent pickleball center court that will remain in place after the event — a sustainable step that will put pickleball on the map in Burgenland for the long term.
First weekend instead of finals weekend
Another key difference to 2025: the tournament will fall on the qualifying weekend of the Austrian Tennis Championships, not the finals weekend. This creates ideal conditions for pickleball (hall slots, focus on our events, a predictable schedule) and makes logistics much easier for players and guests, as the pickleball tournament does not overlap with the tennis finals.
More divisions + attractive packages
In addition to the Open and Senior divisions, there will be multiple skill levels, ensuring as many participants as possible can find the right category.
And because Burgenland has plenty to offer beyond the courts, there will once again be attractive hotel packages — both in Oberpullendorf and Lutzmannsburg. There will also be VIP packages for guests and players, including catering, to make the tournament experience even more premium.
The Austrian Open finals will also be featured in a livestream and additionally produced/broadcast for TV, with commentary and the right stage for the most important matches of the weekend.
We’re looking for sponsors, volunteers — and we appreciate donations to support the tournaments
To ensure these three events don’t just happen, but happen at a very high level, we need support on several fronts:
Sponsors
We invite companies that want to present themselves at our events to join us as sponsors. We create tailor-made packages to fit your goals. We’re happy that many partners from recent years will be with us again in 2026 – and we’d love your help in bringing new partners on board so pickleball can continue to grow in Austria.
Volunteers on site
We’re looking for people who can help around the tournaments – especially with setup/tear-down and event operations (e.g., results entry, schedule flow, on-site support).
Support through donations
If you’d like to support us financially, you can help make these tournaments possible through a donation to the Pickleball Federation Austria. Every contribution helps us improve quality, the overall event experience, and infrastructure. Donations to the PFA are tax-deductible in Austria.
For sponsorships, volunteering, or donations, please contact PFA President Peter Robic directly: peter@playpickleball.at
